Today I decided to take a drive and see some aspen trees. They are golden for only a brief time, which is different each year. Sometimes you can plan to see them “in a few days”, a big wind storm will come through, and afterwards all the leaves cover the ground, ruining your plans. To find them in the midst of their full glory is a bit of timing and a bit of luck—much like life.
I found them at a very good time, and I ran with joy through their groves. The wind was just right, their leaves sing a unique sound when it is not too windy, and not still. A whisper that is as enchanting as the walk through the trees.
Kya and I wandered off the trail, following our own trail of yellow leaves. We had a picnic lunch with the spruce, shared an apple with a chipmunk, and I collected a study of photos to use in painting. The cobalt sky was the clearest it has been in a long time, with no wildifre smoke to make haze. The views across the valley all the way to the next 12,000 foot mountain range were just breathtaking.
Here are some photos for you to enjoy~
